Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, starring Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, Triptii Dimri, unveiled its first teaser on Friday. Directed by Anees Bazmee, who also directed the second installment of the series, is back in the director’s chair for the third part. This marks Vidya’s return to the franchise after her appearance in the first installment, back in 2007. The first Bhool Bhulaiyaa starred Akshay Kumar.

The teaser opens with the audio of ‘Ami Je Tomar’, and reveals the grand return of Vidya. We get a nod to the terrifying scene from the first film, where her character lifted a bed with her bare hands. This time, she lifts up a heavy chair as she screams at the top of her lungs. Kartik Aaryan is back as Rooh Baba, a ghost hunter of sorts, who appears to have been given the task of capturing Manjulika’s ghost. Triptii Dimri plays Kartik’s love interest. It was rumoured that Madhuri Dixit is also a part of the film, but we don’t see a glimpse of her in the teaser.

Aakash Kaushik has been credited as the story, screenplay and dialogue writer of the film. From the teaser, it appears that Bhool Bhulaiyaa is more of a horror film, than a comedy. Looking at the success of Stree 2, it seems like the audience has certainly enough of an appetite for the genre.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was one of the biggest hits of 2022. At the time, when the Hindi film industry was still recovering after the pandemic, the Kartik Aaryan starrer made over Rs 185 crore nett at the domestic box office. The film also starred Tabu and Kiara Advani in lead roles.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is heading for a major clash against Singham Again. The film is the next instalment in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe and will bring together all the big names from Singham, Simmba and Soorynavanshi. Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar and others star in the film.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is set to release on November 1.
