Jr NTR is raring to set the box office on fire with Koratala Siva’s Devara, which marks the actor’s first solo release since Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava (2018). With all decks cleared for the smooth release of the highly ambitious and anticipated film, it is expected that Devara box office would open with a bang on September 27. According to trade website Sacnilk, the film, as on Thursday morning, is set to amass Rs 28.97 crore gross at the domestic box office from ticketing sales and has sold 11.6 lakh tickets. With the added filter that these numbers reflect the collections from the blocked seats, Devara easily crosses the Rs 40 crore mark to end up with a total Day 1 collection of Rs 44.08 crore domestically.

Of course, as expected the Telugu version is pulling all the weight, but the prospective numbers from the Tamil and Hindi versions look promising too. Considering Devara is look at an almost Rs 50 crore opening number, and Telugu cinema always manages to make a massive impact at the global box office, it is expected that Jr NTR might just cross the Rs 100 crore gross worldwide on Day 1. Interestingly, it is reported that Jr NTR’s previous solo film, Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava collected Rs 58 crore gross globally, and was his biggest blockbuster then. Now, Devara is expected to almost double it just on Day 1. It is reflective of the exponential growth of Jr NTR’s stardom, and the pulling power of Telugu cinema at the global level. 

Every film from the South, which managed to make a good amount of money from the Hindi-speaking states due to its release and promotion strategies. With Jr NTR becoming a household name all over the country thanks to his very own films being dubbed in multiple languages and screened on television channels, and SS Rajamouli’s RRR, the makers expect the Hindi audience to embrace the film with the same fervour they expressed to RRR. Also, there is intrigue surrounding Jr NTR, who is playing the antagonist in Hrithik Roshan’s War 2. It is also reported that the makers have agreed to the eight-week release window, and this in turn, would result in a really wide release for the film with major multiplexes deciding to screen the film.

With hardly any other big-ticket film, barring Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan (October 10 release), set to release till Diwali, Devara might just become the unstoppable juggernaut that tramples box-office records, and creates the pathway for many rooted and ambitious films to be made on this grand a scale and vision. The film, which marks the Telugu debut of Jahnvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, also stars Prakash Raj and Shri Marathe, and is set to release on September 27.
