The Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina-starrer Jigra unveiled its first theatrical trailer on Thursday. Directed by Vasan Bala, the film follows Alia’s Satya, who is trying to break her brother out of prison after he gets arrested in an unnamed Southeast Asian country. Alongside Alia and Vedang, the film also stars Manoj Pahwa. Jigra marks Alia’s debut in the action genre.

In the teaser trailer, we got an impression that Satya works in the hospitality industry. After her brother gets arrested, Satya travels to the foreign country, where she begins putting together an escape plan into motion. The brother, however, appears to have been arrested under false charges, which are communicated to him in a foreign language. Manoj Pahwa appears to be playing a mentor/father-figure to Satya. Despite the heavy doses of action, the film’s emotional core is the sibling love shared by Satya and her incarcerated brother.

Vedang broke out with his debut role in The Archies last year. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the film also starred Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor and Agastya Nanda. Jigra has been written by Debashish Irengbam and Vasan Bala. Jigra releases in theatres on October 11.
