Katrina Kaif, who is considered among the best-looking actresses, recently opened up about how she sometimes feels the pressure of matching up to certain beauty standards when she is not feeling her best. The actress shared that there are days when she complains about her physical appearance and weight and how, in such moments, her husband Vicky Kaushal calms her down.
In a conversation with Huda Kattan, the owner of Huda Beauty, Katrina Kaif revealed the purpose behind starting her own beauty brand, Kay Beauty. She said, “There have been moments where I kind of felt this obligation to match up to the certain standard or stereotype of beauty. In some days, months or moments, where I didn’t quite match up, I felt a certain sense of judgement like I didn’t deserve to be there if I wasn’t looking perfect or looking my best and I think that sense of judgement kind of struck a chord with me.”
She added, “Emotionally, that kind of hurt because you don’t look your best every month. Sometimes you don’t look your best some year also. You are like ‘does that mean I don’t deserve to be here? Is it just abut physicality?’ And I think that’s what drove the whole emotion behind the Kay community. I really wanted to create that there really is no standard or stereotype of beauty and everyone’s accepted.”

Speaking how her husband Vicky Kaushal helps her in such moments, the Namastey London actress said, “I will be sitting and talking with my husband or getting ready for an event and I will be complaining about something about my physical appearance or saying I am not happy with the way I am looking and I have gained weight. I am not comfortable. My husband will sit there and go, ‘Aren’t you the one who keeps telling everyone it’s Kay to be you and its Kay to be however you are and just how you are?’ And then I kind of look at him and be like, ‘do you mind?’ But at the same time, it’s like that gentle reminder that, hey, one second, this is what it’s about and this is why I started this and I have to apply that same kindness to myself.”
Katrina Kaif, who rose to fame with her films like Namastey London, Meri Brother Ki Dulhan, Rajneeti, Dhoom 3, Bang Bang, and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, among others, started her cosmetic line Kay Beauty in 2019. She married Vicky Kaushal in 2021.
