The guests for the first episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show have been revealed. The makers of the show dropped a trailer for second season’s first episode featuring Alia Bhatt, Vedang Raina, and Karan Johar. The trio are present on set to promote their upcoming film Jigra.
Dropping the trailer on Netflix’s official social media handles, the makers wrote, “When @karanjohar, @vasanbala, @aliaabhatt and @vedangraina spill the Bollywood tea, Funnyvaar ka fun padega sab pe bhaari. Watch the first episode of #TheGreatIndianKapilShow Season 2, this Funnyvaar, 8 pm, only on Netflix.”
The trailer was a montage of several fun moments from the episode. It starts with Kapil Sharma asking Karan Johar, “What do you see in Alia Bhatt? A friend? An actor? Your aunt?” Karan quickly replies, “She is my first daughter”. In another segment of the trailer, Karan Johar can be heard complaining, “I have helped many people with their relationships. However, I am single.” To this, Kapil jokingly says, “A confectioner doesn’t eat the candies he makes.”

Eventually, they are joined by the other cast of the show–Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, and Sunil Grover–who dress up as Alia Bhatt’s characters from her films Gangubai Kathiawadi, and Gully Boy, among others.

Alia Bhatt then claims, “I will tell you one thing about Karan Johar. He has a sixth sense. When Ranbir and I became friends…” Karan quickly interrupts and teases “Became friends?” Sunil Grover, who has earlier played a woman who has a crush on Ranbir Kapoor, is also introduced hilariously as the ‘other woman’ in the Animal actor’s life.
Karan Johar also talks about being part of two mommy WhatsApp groups. He said, “I am added to a WhatsApp group with all moms. Every morning they put a message, ‘Good morning ladies’ and then I have to remind them, I am there too.'” With these elements, the makers promise a fun hour on Saturday (Sept 21) at 8 pm. The episode will mark the return of The Great Indian Kapil Show for a second time on Netflix.
