Anil Mehta, 62, allegedly died by suicide on Wednesday. In a statement to police, Malaika Arora’s mother Joyce Polycarp claimed that she had reunited with her ex-husband Anil a few years ago and were living together. She explained that Anil had a routine to read the newspaper sitting in the balcony every morning. On Wednesday morning, Joyce noticed Anil’s slippers in the living room which made her come to the balcony looking for him.

However, she couldn’t find him. When she leaned over the balcony railing to look below, she saw a commotion, and the building’s watchman was shouting for help.
