Mother knows best.
Attending the premiere of her movie “Shell” at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday, Kaia Gerber drew style inspiration from her supermodel mom, Cindy Crawford, re-creating the fashion legend’s look from the 1993 Oscars.
Walking the red carpet, the 23-year-old “Palm Royale” actress wore a white Hervé Léger bandage dress, which ended at her ankles and included built-in underwire cups.
The piece was custom-made to look just like the one that Crawford wore 21 years ago, and according to Gerber’s stylist, Molly Dickson, the inspiration for the outfit came from the famous offspring herself.
“Kaia had sent me a mood board for TIFF and this was one of her references,” she told Vogue.
“I thought it would be amazing to pay tribute to Cindy’s iconic moment.”
However, channeling Crawford, now 58, didn’t just end with the dress.
Gerber also wore similar white pumps (by Jimmy Choo) and dazzling jewels, along with her mom’s vintage Omega watch.
She switched up her glam, however, opting for a voluminous ‘90s blowout instead of Crawford’s half-up hairstyle and wearing bronzed makeup with a darker mauve lip.

And while Crawford attended the 1993 Oscars with then-husband Richard Gere, Gerber walked the red carpet solo, letting her look steal the spotlight.
It isn’t the first time the “Bottoms” star has taken style cues from her famous parent.
The mother-daughter duo recently twinned at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where they attended an event in coordinating black dresses.
Gerber also paid homage to Crawford on her 18th birthday, wearing a strappy Versace dress that looked similar to one her mom wore to the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards.
But while Gerber is no stranger to channeling the supermodel’s style, she did admit to not knowing how “iconic” Crawford was until watching the AppleTV+ docuseries “The Super Models,” which reflects on Crawford’s career along with those of Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington.
“I was like, ‘I didn’t realize. I knew you were iconic, but …’ I didn’t understand when I was younger,” she told WSJ. magazine earlier this year.
“I was starstruck in front of her after.”
Keep the re-creations coming, Kaia!
