Two days after the Kerala Police registered a sexual assault case against actor Nivin Pauly, Vineeth Sreenivasan has come forward to defend him. The multi-faceted Mollywood star vouched for Nivin’s innocence, claiming he can prove Nivin’s alibi. Vineeth shared that they were together on the sets of his directorial Varshangalkku Sesham during the dates mentioned in the complaint. According to the police report filed against Nivin, a woman alleged that he sexually abused her in Dubai. However, Vineeth, in his latest statement, confirmed Nivin’s presence in Kochi on the same dates listed in the complaint.
Vineeth shared that he was with Nivin on the sets of Varshangalkku Sesham on both December 14 and 15, 2023. He added that they were together until 3:00 am on December 15. He further mentioned that the film’s shooting took place at Kochi’s ABAD Nucleus Mall and later at Crown Plaza, continuing until the early hours of the next day. Since the filming occurred in public spaces, Vineeth assured that many people could confirm Nivin’s presence on those dates.
The police registered the rape case on Tuesday after the woman alleged that Nivin Pauly sexually abused her at a hotel in Dubai last year, after promising her a role in a film. Nivin has denied the allegations, and he took to Instagram to share his side of the story, calling the accusations “entirely untrue”.
In his Instagram post, Nivin wrote, “I have come across a false news report accusing me of abusing a girl. Please know that this is entirely untrue. I’m determined to go to any extent to prove these allegations are baseless and will take all necessary steps to bring those responsible to light. Thank you for your concern. The rest will be handled legally.”
Following the allegations, Nivin Pauly also held a press conference to clarify his stance. He stated, “If fake allegations become the norm, it isn’t right. I am fighting for everyone who is facing such false allegations. Procedure does take some time. Friends from cinema did express their solidarity. But even if I have to fight it out on my own, I will do it. Also, I am not running away, or going in hiding. I am here, and I will be here.”
