Suresh Gopi, who was nominated as Rajya Sabha MP, joined BJP in 2016. He contested in the 2019 Indian general election in Kerala as a BJP candidate in the Thrissur constituency and lost to Congress candidate T.N. Prathapan. However, he was later nominated as MP.

On the work front, Suresh Gopi was last seen in Garudan (2023), which turned out to be a hit with good reviews from critics. He has an array of films this year including JSK, Ottakkomban, Oruperumkaliyattam, and his 251th film, which is tentatively called SG251.
