Stree 2, the highly anticipated sequel of Stree (2018) is on a roll as it has become one of the most successful films this year. The film’s stellar cast is ecstatic with the response their film is receiving and are now even more excited to be a part of the film’s third part, Stree 3.

In an interview with indianexpress.com, actor Abhishek Banerjee, who plays the role of Janaa, and is the link between the horror comedy films Stree, Stree 2, Bhediya and Munjya, has given an update on Stree 3. He says the film’s script is already written and promises it to be a “big epic saga”.

There was a six-year gap between the release dates of Stree and Stree 2. However, most likely fans will not have to wait so long for Stree 3 and Amar Kaushik will be back in the director’s chair for a third time (fourth in the horror comedy franchise, counting Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya).

Talking about Stree 2, Abhishek said that making the film will take time, but not as much as Stree 2 did. he said, “It will take time. Now that Stree 2 has become such a big hit, I know that it won’t take six years to make it, like we did with Stree 2. That’s for sure. Some parts of the script are already written. It is going to be a big epic saga and as an actor I am dying to be back on that set.”

Actor Aparshakti Khurana, who plays the role of Bittu in the Stree franchise also expressed his excitement on being a part of the third part of the film. He said, “Stree 3’s frame was ready long back, much before Stree 2 released and now we are waiting the film producer Dinesh Vijan and director Amar Kaushik to give more details.”

Producer Dinesh Vijan had confirmed that Stree 3 is in the making at the trailer launch event of Stree 2. He had said, “Stree 2 is like a mothership. It answers a lot of questions that Stree raised. It also tells you what the connections are. What will come next. After Stree 2 would be a film called Thama, which we’ll tell you about later. We have already written Stree 3, so the gap will be less. One thing I can tell you about Stree 2 is it is bigger, madder and crazier. The trailer is only 10 per cent because it has a lot of visual effects in it and we want to leave that for the theatre. But if you come in, it is Maddock’s most paisa vasool film.”

According to reports doing rounds on the internet, Stree 3 will have a bigger ensemble cast with Akshay Kumar playing the super villain and actors Tamannah Bhatia, Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana will enter the horror comedy universe of Maddock Films via Stree 3. The film is expected to be released in cinemas in 2025.

Stree 2 was released in cinemas on August 15. In just six days since its release, the film has already grosses Rs 317 crore in India.
