After two years of marriage global pop sensation and actor Jennifer Lopez and her husband, actor Ben Affleck, are officially calling it quits. The news of their separation is notably coinciding with the anniversary of their Riceboro, Georgia-set wedding ceremony in 2022 after they first eloped in Las Vegas a month prior.

A CNN report suggests that Lopez has already filed for dissolution of their marriage in Los Angeles on Tuesday (July 20), according to an entry on the Los Angeles Superior Court docket. However, the couple is yet to make a formal announcement about their separation.

NBC News is now reporting that Lopez has waived her claim to spousal support, and wants the same for Affleck. As they don’t have a prenuptial agreement, earnings of both Affleck and Lopez since their marriage is considered community property between the duo. Affleck has starred in Air and Hypnotic and wrapped The Accountant 2, and produced The Instigators. Lopez made Shotgun Wedding, Atlas, This Is Me Now and The Mother in this time period.

In the documents, Lopez mentions April 26 as their date of separation, a few days before she made a solo appearance at the 2024 Met Gala.

Lopez and Affleck were reportedly living separately for several months before taking the legal route to get a divorce. The singer-actor has canceled her summer tour and is planning to spend time with her family. The couple has apparently also put their Beverly Hills home for sale.

Jennifer and Ben first met on the sets of comedy film Gigli and fell in love in 2002. The Unstoppable actor popped the question with a custom 6.1-carat pink diamond ring from Harry Winston. He also appeared as Lopez’s love interest in the music video for her 2002 single “Jenny from the Block.” The couple postponed their wedding in 2003 and officially split in 2004. However, the two reconciled in 2021 and tied the knot in July 2022.
