Amitabh Bachchan is currently hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 and in a recent promo of the show, the veteran actor shared that he is very scared of riding bikes. Big B shared that even though he can ride one, he feels quiet nervous while doing so. As soon as the actor said this, the contestant sitting in front of him reminded him of his film Muqaddar Ka Sikandar where Amitabh’s character had a heroic entry on top of a bike.

The KBC host said in the promo, “Bhaiya yeh jo bikers hote hain, humko isse badi ghabrahat hoti hai. Humko toh bada darr lagta hai sir. Chala sakte hain… (With bikers, I get very nervous. I am very scared. I can ride but…)” Then the contestant reminded him of his 1978 film Muqaddar Ka Sikandar and Bachchan had a smile on his face.

Amitabh Bachchan explained that he can do it all in front of the camera as he is an actor. “Hum log sab kalakar hain aur ek baar jab camera chal padta hai toh humko apni kala ka pradarshan karna padta hai. Yeh dikhana padta hai ki humko boht achi tarah se chalana aata hai. (We are actors and once the camera starts rolling, we have to act. We have to show that we can do it well.)”

Amitabh then recalled that he was actually quite nervous when he shot the opening number of Muqaddar Ka Sikandar where he was lip-syncing to the opening number of the film. “Lekin humari haalat boht nazuk thi hum jab voh kar rahe the. Aur gaana bhi gana tha, aur phatphatiya bhi chalani thi aur hath vath bhi chodna tha. Hath chodna unhone nahi bola tha, humne aise hi masti mein kar dia, toh ho gaya (I was quite nervous while doing it. I had to sing and ride the bike and put my arms up in the air while riding the bike. They didn’t ask me to lift my hands up but I just did it for fun, and it happened).”

A few years ago, Amitabh Bachchan had spoken about his fear of bikes when John Abraham had visited the show to promote Satyameva Jayate 2. At the time, John recalled that he visited the Bachchan household on his new bike after the success of Dhoom and before Abhishek could come downstairs to meet John, Amitabh told him “Abhishek ko encourage mat karna (Don’t encourage Abhishek).” John then laughed and shared that as soon as Abhishek joined them, Amitabh flipped the subject and said, “Wow, what a bike!”
