John Abraham and Sharvari’s Vedaa has been completely overshadowed by the box office juggernaut Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, which was released on the same day. Vedaa, which had been struggling with low box office numbers since its release on Thursday, failed to recover on the crucial first Monday, despite it being the Raksha Bandhan holiday. The action film marked its lowest daily earnings yet, and according to Sacnilk, collected only Rs 1.5 crore on its fifth day of release, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 15.5 crore.

Vedaa began its box office journey with an opening collection of Rs 6.3 crore, a fraction of Stree 2’s opening, which set a benchmark with Rs 51.8 crore. The film saw a steep 71 percent dip on Friday, collecting only Rs 1.8 crore. Though it managed a slight recovery over the weekend, earning Rs 2.7 crore on Saturday and Rs 3.2 crore on Sunday, the worryingly low earnings on Monday have cast doubt on its box office trajectory.

John Abraham’s last film, Pathaan, was a massive hit, but it was primarily a Shah Rukh Khan-starrer with John playing the antagonist. Compared to his previous lead roles, Vedaa has underperformed as well. For example, Ek Villain Returns earned ₹3.02 crore on its first Monday, while the notorious bomb Attack earned Rs 1.54 crore, slightly more than Vedaa.

On Monday, Vedaa had an overall 20.48 percent Hindi occupancy, with the highest occupancy of 29.38 percent during night shows. The film is directed by Nikkhil Advani, marking his third collaboration with John Abraham after Batla House and Salaam-E-Ishq. Batla House was a hit at the box office, earning almost Rs 100 crore against the budget of Rs 45 crore.
