Actor Ranvir Shorey, fresh out of Bigg Boss, is in the mood to open can of worms. The actor has addressed allegations of him being “abusive” and claimed it was a lie planted in the media by filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. Ranvir Shorey was in a relationship with actor-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt, which resulted in an ugly break up.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Ranvir Shorey was asked about his fallout with the Bhatts, where he had famously said being “manipulated” by the veteran filmmaker, whose daughter the actor was dating in the early 2000s. Ranvir and Pooja were good friends before they started dating and began living together. However, their relationship ended with a public and ugly break-up. She claimed that Ranvir physically and verbally abused him, charges that he strenuously denied.
“At the time we had a conflict, I felt that the respect I had for him, he used that manipulatively. When the fight happened, he told my father, ‘Ok, we will rest the matter here, whatever the fight happened between the kids.’ Next day, he proceeded to print utter lies about me, planted false stories in the media against me, painting me as an alcoholic abusive person. All lies!” Ranvir said.
When asked if the fight was just between him and Pooja, Ranvir added, “Her brother was the one, who assaulted me. He (Mahesh Bhatt) could have told these guys not to talk like that…. In that sense I felt he was manipulative towards me. These are all 25 years old stories, I don’t want to get into them now,” he said, getting visibly annoyed.
Pooja Bhatt had reportedly claimed that Ranvir would become “violent” when drunk and would be physically abusive towards her. Earlier on Bigg Boss, Ranvir Shorey had touched upon his relationship with Pooja Bhatt, calling it the biggest scandal of his life.
Ranvir Shorey later married actor Konkona Sen Sharma, and the two welcomed son Haroon in 2011. The couple separated in 2015. Pooja Bhatt had tied the knot with Manish Makhija in 2013, but the duo separated a year later.
