With Anant Ambani, billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s son, tying the knot with Radhika Merchant, the daughter of Encore Healthcare CEO Viren Merchant, Indian celebrity weddings are once again in the spotlight. As a new generation of young actors strives to establish themselves in Bollywood, fans and social media are buzzing with rumours and speculations about who’s dating whom and who will be the first to tie the knot.
Amidst this, an old video of young actor Ananya Panday discussing her thoughts on weddings and her vision for a future special day has gone viral on Reddit. The clip, from the second season of the reality TV series Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, features Ananya chatting with one of her best friends Shanaya Kapoor, the daughter of actor-producer Sanjay Kapoor and his wife Maheep Kapoor. The episode features the second wedding of Ananya’s parents, Chunky Panday and Bhavana Pandey, organised on the occasion of their 24th wedding anniversary as they renewed their vows.
During the conversation, Ananya asks Shanaya if witnessing the ceremony makes her want to get married. Shanaya responds, “I feel like between you and me, you’d get married first.” Hearing this, Ananya, with a wide smile, says, “I love love.” Shanaya adds, “Even I do, but I am not dying to do it.”
“My whole idea was that I was gonna get married with them again (Chunky and Bhavana). Waiting for that to happen. I’m like dreading…” Ananya says, taking Shanaya by surprise. As Shanaya says she is likely to get married only after Ananya and Suhana Khan (Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s daughter), the Kho Gaye Hum Kahan actor, puzzled, asks her, “Why have you become this bachelor?”

When Shanaya expresses her desire for a traditional wedding, Ananya eagerly agrees and says, “I want like three weddings. I want to have like a function.” As Shanaya raises her eyebrows at this, Ananya quickly shifts the conversation, saying, “I came here thinking it was Vicky-Katrina’s wedding. But I think I came to the wrong place. Really wanted to go for that one.”
It was rumoured that Ananya was in a relationship with actor Aditya Roy Kapur since 2022, but it is believed that they parted ways earlier this year. Ananya even vaguely accepted her relationship with Aditya when she appeared on Koffee With Karan in 2023.
