Bad Newz, which hit the theatres on July 19, has been going strong at the box office, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

Despite new releases like Deadpool & Wolverine and Kalki 2898 AD still being screened in theaters, Bad Newz has held strong with its lighthearted and entertaining story. The film’s easy-breezy content continues to resonate with audiences, making it a popular weekend choice.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to social media to share the latest box office figures of Bad Newz. He wrote, “The weekend growth [58.56%] has come in… #BadNewz sees a significant upward trend on [second] Sat, bringing it closer to the ₹ 50 cr mark… This escalation in numbers is commendable given the stiff competition from the mighty #DeadpoolAndWolverine. [Week 2] Fri 2.22 cr, Sat 3.52 cr. Total: ₹ 49.86 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice”

Besides dominating the domestic scene, Bad Newz has also made waves internationally. The film has already surpassed the Rs 70 crore mark at the global box office, with a total collection exceeding Rs 78.30 crore worldwide.

Bad Newz centers around Saloni Bagga (Triptii Dimri), a woman with a rare medical condition resulting in twins with different fathers. Enter Akhil Chadha (Vicky Kaushal) and Gurbir Singh (Ammy Virk), who compete to prove their fatherly worth and win Saloni’s heart. Produced by Amritpal Singh Bindra, Apoorva Mehta and Karan Johar, the film also stars Neha Dhupia in a pivotal role with Ananya Panday and Neha Sharma making special appearances.

In her review, The Indian Express’ film critic Shubhra Gupta, wrote, “The good news: the first half, silly and sparkly, is altogether fun. The bad newz: the second half, taken over by sighs and moans, is a mood kill. Overall, mixed bag, as it flouts Rom Com Rule 101: never let the laughs dry.”
