Giving an account of their first meeting, Zaheer said that they met one evening, when he and his friends and Salman and his friends were “chilling” at Galaxy, that’s when he and Sonakshi interacted with each other for the first time. However, that’s not how they fell in love and started dating. Zaheer shared, “the first time we really spent a lot of time with each other was on June 23, 2017, at the after-party of Salman Khan’s Tubelight premiere.

He said, they “ended up spending five hours together”. That’s the moment the two got really interested in each other and “kept chatting”, until they suddenly, realised that there was no one left in the room except the two of them because the party was long over and all the guests had departed. He said, “We knew that day there was something special here”.

Sonakshi and Zaheer shared that they planned their wedding date to be June 23, 2024, to mark seven years of the day they realised that their bond was special.
