Deepika Padukone’s role in the film Kalki 2898 AD has sparked interest due to a unique coincidence: her pregnancy in real life coincided with her real-life pregnancy. Husband Ranveer Singh commented on the coincidence as he recently watched the film at a special screening. In a new video, Ranveer can be heard saying, “It’s really trippy to see a movie like this where her character is pregnant and she’s pregnant. What’s happening?” Deepika shared her emotional response, stating, “I don’t know what to feel. I’m just overwhelmed with emotions.”
Kalki 2898 AD stars Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Saswata Chatterjee besides Deepika. In an interview to News 18, Saswata had recounted how Deepika shot for the challenging climax sequence of the film during her pregnancy. “Deepika is just ever-smiling. There is a scene in the film where I drag her by the hair. It was part of the last leg of the shoot and was shot in Mumbai because Deepika was pregnant by then.”

He revealed how her actor-husband was also on the set during this particular shoot. “Ranveer came on set wearing an ensemble that was orange from top to bottom – tee, pants and shoes! He radiates such an infectious positive energy – he just can’t stand in one place. There was a lot of physical tussle in the scene, so I told Ranveer, ‘Don’t worry, for more physically challenging scenes, there’s a body double.’ He was so polite and humble. He smiled and said, ‘I know, dada,’” Saswata said.
Kalki 2898 AD has earned almost Rs 550 crore in India and over Rs 900 crore worldwide. The film is expected to breach Rs 1000 crore mark soon.
