After a glorious first week and a splendid second weekend in theatres, the Prabhas and Deepika Padukone-starrer Kalki 2898 AD saw a significant dip in its collection on its second Monday. The downward trend continued on Tuesday, with the film experiencing a 13 percent dip and minting Rs 9 crore at the box office, according to Sacnilk. This has brought the film’s total domestic collection to Rs 529.45 crore to date.

The film’s Telugu language earnings stand at Rs 250.25 crore to date. The Hindi version has minted Rs 224.65 crore, Tamil Rs 31 crore, Kannada Rs 4.25 crore, and Malayalam Rs 19.3 crore.

Kalki 2898 AD minted Rs 414.85 crore in its first week. After seeing a slight fall in its collection on Friday, the film found its mojo over the weekend, experiencing over a 100 percent increase in its collection on Saturday, minting Rs 34.15 crore, and a further 30 percent increase on Sunday, raking in Rs 44.35 crore. However, as expected, the film saw a huge dip of 76 percent on its first Monday, earning a little over Rs 10 crore, and continued to decline on Tuesday.

As of July 8, Kalki 2898 AD’s worldwide collection stood at Rs 900 crore. The makers haven’t released the latest worldwide collection figures yet. The film is also a major hit in North America, becoming the highest-grossing South Indian film in the region, with collections reaching $16.2 million.

Kalki 2898 AD is running undefeated in theatres without facing any major competition. In fact, the makers of Ajay Devgn and Tabu’s Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha shifted their film’s release to avoid getting overshadowed by the Kalki tsunami. Several mid-budget films, such as Karan Johar’s Kill and Ishq Vishk Rebound, have also released alongside but neither have managed to create a dent in dystopian epic’s earnings. However, the film’s continued downward trend raises concerns about whether it will be able to cross the Rs 1000 crore mark at the worldwide box office.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan in lead roles. A sequel is in development.
