After a modest opening at the box office, director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s action thriller Kill showed growth on its first Saturday. The film saw a 62.96 per cent increase in collections, bringing its total domestic earnings to Rs 3.55 crore.

Kill has largely received positive reviews and was well-received at international film festivals before its release in India on July 5. The positive word-of-mouth promotion helped boost its Saturday earning. However, the film’s performance was overshadowed by the success of Kalki 2898 AD, which continues to dominate even in its second week, with its Hindi version performing better than the Telugu edition. Kalki 2898 AD has grossed Rs 466 crore in India to date and earned over Rs 34 crore on Saturday alone. For Kill to finish its first weekend with a respectable total, it will need to continue its growth on Sunday.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh explained the same and wrote on X, “#Kill picks up speed on Day 2, witnessing 62.96% growth… Word of mouth is extremely positive… However, the growth could’ve been higher if it hadn’t been impacted by the Tsunami called #Kalki2898AD… A significant number on Day 3 [Sun] is essential for a respectable weekend.”
