Film producer Vashu Bhagnani, who is reeling from the shock of back-to-back box office flops, said that things aren’t as bad for him as they’re being made out to be. Bhagnani has been accused of non-payment of dues to crew members who worked on his latest disaster, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, while reports of him selling of a multistorey office complex and laying off staff do the rounds. Dismissing rumours, he said that he is already planning his next project, which will also be mounted on a large budget.

In an interview with The Times of India, Bhagnani said said that the office building hasn’t been sold off and still belongs to him. He said that it is being refurbished into an apartment complex for ‘luxury homes’. He said that the plans were set into motion prior to the release of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. He also denied sacking staff members, and said that he has been working with the same team for a decade. “We haven’t asked anyone to leave.” he said.

Bhagnani said that hits and flops are ‘a part of the business’, and that he is already working on his next project. “I am working on an animation series, which is going to be pitched on a mega scale,” he said. Asked about claims that he owes people money, Bhagnani said that he has been in the movie business for three decades, and if anybody feels that they are owed dues should come forward with proper documentations or file a case. He said that if someone still has an issue, they are free to meet him at his office, and he will come up with a resolution within 60 days.

“I am not going to buckle under any pressure or blackmail,” he said. Bhagnani added that while he has other business interests, he remains most passionate about movies, and he has no intention of quitting. His Pooja Entertainment banner has backed recent duds such as Mission Raniganj, Ganapath, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Prior to the latter film’s release, Bhagnani had bragged in a video that it will earn Rs 1100 crore worldwide. It eventually made around Rs 100 crore.
