The ticket booking for Prabhas’s Kalki 2898 AD was opened in Hyderabad, and within seconds many theatres became housefull with thousands of tickets getting booked in an iffy. However, a strange mishap has led to a lot of confusion among fans. Many found that the tickets they had booked were for Telugu veteran actor Rajashekar’s 2019 film, which also goes by the name Kalki.

In a theatre called Bramarambha Kukatpally as many as six shows of Rajashekar’s Kalki got housefull bookings. This led to many fans lashing out at the ticket-booking platform. They also wondered if it is a sly tactic by the makers of Kalki (2019) to cash in on the craze for the Prabhas-starrer.

Meanwhile, Rajashekar came out with a tweet claiming that he has no part in the mishap. “Naaku assalu sammandham ledhu (I don’t have any part in this) Jokes apart… Wishing dear #Prabhas, @nagashwin7, Maa #AshwiniDutt garu @VyjayanthiFilms. The stellar cast and crew all the very very best! May you create history and take the film industry a step ahead #kalki2898ad.”

On the other hand, Bookmyshow, the ticketing platform assured that the confusion is due to a technical glitch and people who have booked Rajashekar’s Kalki will be given the intended ticket for Kalki 2898 AD.

Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin of Mahanati fame, will be released in theatres on June 27. Starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan, the film is a dystopian sci-fi that marries cyberpunk elements to Hindu mythology. The film is expected to shatter many existing box office records.
