“Today marks a significant day as a guest has arrived here after a long time. Welcome to my mana (a Namboodiri’s house),” says Mammootty’s character wearing a devilish smile and accompanied by a haunting background score — thus ends the teaser of the much-anticipated horror movie Bramayugam, helmed by Bhoothakaalam director Rahul Sadasivan.
One of the most awaited Malayalam movies of 2024, Bramayugam marks the first collaboration between the megastar and Rahul. Now, the makers have unveiled its first official teaser, further intensifying the hype surrounding the film.
The 131-second promo commences with an eerie shot of a shirtless man (Arjun Ashokan) standing in desolation in front of an abandoned temple. A cautionary voice warns him, “Once you enter this mana, it will transform into your field, river and hills,” as Arjun Ashokan’s character begins exploring the area. As he unravels the hidden mysteries within the mana, fear gradually envelops him.
“We are not safe here, let’s go,” he urges someone at one point, yet escape appears to be a challenging option. In his desperate attempt to flee, a formidable force emerges in a low-angle shot, reminiscent of the chilling scene of Baskara Pattelar from Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s Vidheyan. Emitting a sinister aura and accompanied by an eerie smile, he extinguishes a lamp, plunging the frame into darkness, foreshadowing what awaits viewers.

Also starring Sidharth Bharathan and Amalda Liz, among others, the teaser highlights that Bramayugam will be a black-and-white movie. The film’s official release date is yet to be announced.
Bankrolled by Night Shift Studios and YNot Studios, the film’s dialogues have been penned by the noted author TD Ramakrishnan. Shehnad Jalal is in charge of cinematography, Shafique Mohammed Ali serves as the editor and Christo Xavier is also on board as the music composer.
