It was the turn of OGs Neetu Kapoor and Zeenat Aman to take the couch on the latest episode of Koffee With Karan Season 8, and have a heartfelt conversation with host Karan Johar. The duo spoke about their personal and professional lives and giving up the glitz and glamour for their families. Both the veteran actresses recalled how they were happy to leave cinema after glorious innings.

Speaking with no regrets at all, both Neetu and Zeenat shared how they were happy and ready to take a step back from the industry to embrace motherhood or managing their households. Neetu Kapoor also revisited Rishi Kapoor’s last days in New York, but preferred to focus on the moments of hope in those dark days, as she spoke about how the late actor forged a strong bond with his children Riddhima and Ranbir Kapoor.

Talking about leaving Bollywood at the mere age of 20-21, Neetu Kapoor shared, “I started working when I was 5. When Do Kaliyaan came, I was so loved by everyone. I had already seen fame very early in my career, so after that working became a job for me, it was nothing that I looked forward to. From age 5 to 21 I have worked a lot, I did around 70-80 movies.”

She further added, “I had worked for 15 years, so you get tired. My kids were born and I just wanted to dedicate myself to my children, and my house, and my husband was very possessive. He wanted me all the time to just be around and be there. So that’s the way my life was and I was very happy. I had such a lovely household, everybody was so full of love, and my mother-in-law was one of the best human beings ever. My father-in-law was so wonderful, we were like one happy Punjabi family and we had so much fun. My best years were when I stayed in Chembur at Deonar Cottage.”

Zeenat Aman also shared how she was ‘ready’ to take on motherhood after witnessing the epitome of stardom, she was ready to embrace the shift. “By the time that shift was about to happen, I was good and ready to move on to the next chapter of my life which was motherhood. When I moved on to that chapter I was 100 percent in it as much as I had been with my film. So did I look back and miss any of it? Not at all!”

On a lighter note, the OG’s of the OG’s (like Karan Johar said) also spoke about how they never partied much in their heydays. Well, it was strict mothers, and in Neetu’s case a strict boyfriend too who kept them away from the party culture in the industry back then. “With Yashji (Yash Chopra) we would have lot of fun, we would have parties, but I had this Rishi Kapoor as my boyfriend so I never partied-partied. It was always like don’t do this, don’t do that, come home, so I never saw the wild side of partying  in those days. I was committed, and I had a very strict mother and a very strict boyfriend. So I was torn between both of them,” Neetu said.
