Shah Rukh Khan’s three releases of 2023 had the actor celebrating patriotism in different ways. In Pathaan, he played a RAW agent who is protecting his country against the bad guy, in Jawan, he reminded people about their duty to vote responsibly and in Dunki, he spoke about loving one’s country as opposed to looking to move to another country. So when at a recent event, SRK was honoured as the ‘Indian of the Year’, the actor spoke about his patriotism.

At News 18’s event, Shah Rukh said, “I don’t just feel like the Indian of the year. I feel I have been the Indian of all the years gone by. And I will be the Indian for all the years to come. I am actually, ladies and gentleman, the Indian for all ages.” The crowd cheered for the star and he proceeded to thank them.

Shah Rukh thanked his fans who came in hordes to watch his films in 2023. The actor “bowed down” to his audience for making him a “star yet again.” “Hordes of you who came to the theatres to watch my film, some of you may not have even liked them but I know deep down inside, you came there to support me and my family. So I bow down to you and thank you for bringing cheer to my family, my children, my loved ones and I thank you for making me the star I am yet again.”

SRK was on a hiatus from the movies ever since his 2018 film Zero bombed at the box office. He did not appear in any lead roles for almost five years until he made a comeback with Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan. His three films of 2023 – Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki – did a collective business of Rs 2,500 crore worldwide. The actor is yet to announce his next film. In an earlier chat with MBC Bollywood, he said that he will start his next film in March and will be seen in a “more age real” role.
