The trailer for Vijay Sethupathi’s 50th film Maharaja is here and fans can’t keep calm. After announcing the film last year and revealing the Tamil star’s first look from the thriller, the makers of the movie dropped the trailer for the Nithilan Saminathan directorial.

The 1 minute and 42 seconds long video introduces the viewers to Sethupathi’s character Maharaja, an ordinary barber (or is he?), who runs a salon in KK Nagar, but is in distress after somebody stole ‘Lakshmi’ from his house for which he goes to the police station to file an FIR. Who is Lakshmi you ask? Well, it’s not his wife, sister or friend, neither is it money or gold, it’s something that Sethupathi only tries to explain by doing some actions, which makes its viewers laugh. Maharaja even goes to an extent of warning the police to find his Lakshmi or else… well, that’s left to the movie, which is yet to get a release date.

While, the trailer keeps you hooked and interested, it’s the glimpse of director Anurag Kashyap at the end in a villain’s avatar that fuels your excitement.

Maharaja, written and directed by Nithilan Saminathan, also stars Mamta Mohandas, Natty (Natraj), Bharathiraja, Abhirami, Singampuli and Kalki among others.

The film, produced by Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy under the banners Passion Studios and The Route, has music composed by B Ajaneesh Loknath. The music has already caught the attention of Vijay Sethupathi’s fans, with one of them commenting, “Vera level BGM. I don’t know who this music director is, but, he is going to break all records soon. Music is taking the trailer to next level.”
