Imagine actor Manoj Bajpayee stepping out from his house, heading to the market and then bargaining with the local sabzi wala. That’s precisely what happens when he goes grocery shopping, the acclaimed actor admits sheepishly, embarrassing his wife Shabana, who pretends to not know him at all in such times.

The actor, who is currently promoting his latest film Bhaiyya Ji, spoke about his bargaining habits when he goes shopping. When asked if he bargains when he buys vegetables, Bajpayee told Mashable India, “Ab daant dete hai sabzi waale mujhe, ‘Ye achcha nahi lag raha sir.’ Then I tell them that I am merely practicing! My wife would behave as if she doesn’t know me. She doesn’t like to bargain.”

The actor then mentioned how the Bajpayee family is slowly moving towards a more sustainable living and has moved towards “non-plastic” products. “We have a lot of cloth bags which we take to buy groceries. In other sustainable practices, my wife is very fond of thrifting! When we go to America, whether one buys or not, but she has to go to the thrift store! She visits thrift stores of every city. It is my job to find as many thrift stores for Shabana.

“When we feel we are done with certain clothes, we pack them in cartons and send it to different cities where we send it to our friends or relatives, who then distribute it to those in need. There is no point in throwing the clothes away of course,” he added.

On the work front, the actor has had a packed year so far, which began with the Netflix series Killer Soup, followed by Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout and now his latest feature Bhaiyya Ji, which is playing in cinemas.

His other releases for the year include Despatch and The Fable. Manoj Bajpayee will also be shooting for the third season his Raj-DK series The Family Man.
