Lionel Richie said his pregnant daughter, Sofia Richie, is freaking out as she prepares for the arrival of her first baby.
The “Dancing on the Ceiling” singer, 74, joked that Sofia, 25, and her husband, Elliot Grainge, are about to have a “nervous breakdown” during an interview with “Extra” Sunday.
“I keep saying, ‘Calm down. When the baby comes, then your nervous breakdown will start, you know,’” Lionel told the outlet.
The “American Idol” judge gushed that his life is “so full” at the moment.
“I mean, 39 years ago was ‘We Are the World,’ the greatest night in pop, and now here it is on Netflix and is doing amazing, No. 1 around the world,” he said of his documentary released in January.
“And then we’ve got my Sofie — my baby’s now having a baby,” he added. “What the heck is going on?”
Lionel first celebrated his daughter’s pregnancy in January — just days after the couple announced they were going to be parents.
“I’m so thrilled for Elliot and Sophia. They are just over the moon,” he told “Entertainment Tonight” at the time.
The “Hello” crooner also noted that he does not want his grandchildren calling him “grandpa.”
“I’m pop-pop,” he explained. “We don’t get the ‘grandpa,’ yeah, that’s a little deep. Pop-pop is where we’re going.”
Lionel is already a “pop-pop” to his daughter Nicole Richie’s two children with her husband, Joel Madden: daughter Harlow, 16, and son Sparrow, 14.
Lionel also has admitted that hearing the news that his youngest child is having her own baby “freaked [him] out a little bit.”

“But at the same time, Elliot and Sofia are such a force. This little baby is gonna be souped up like you’ve never seen before. It’s amazing,” he told “Extra” in January.
Sofia and Grainge, 30, revealed their relationship in early 2021 and got engaged in April 2022.
“Forever isn’t long enough @elliot,” she captioned a photo at the time of the music executive down on one knee at the Four Seasons Hualalai.
The model celebrated her engagement with a Parisian bachelorette party and a bridal shower.
In April 2023, Sofia and Grainge said “I do” during a lavish wedding in France, where A-lists guests included Paris Hilton, Cameron Diaz and more.
