Shah Rukh Khan was still fairly new to the movies when he appeared in a career defining role in Abbas-Mustan’s Baazigar. Shah Rukh landed this role after many popular actors of the time had rejected the part for being too negative. Among the many memorable portions of the film, fans often speak about SRK’s Zorro-like look in the film’s title song where he is seen riding a horse with a black cape, hat and mask. However, in a recent interview, Abbas-Mustan revealed that it was actually SRK’s body double who shot for the sequence.

In an fan interaction hosted by Radio Nasha, when Abbas-Mustan were asked if SRK fell off the horse during the song’s shoot, since he has spoken about his fear of horses many times, the director duo responded by saying that since Shah Rukh’s face was hardly visible in that look, they actually shot the portions with the horse with a body double in SRK’s place. “He was wearing a robe, a hat and a mask on his face and his eyes were covered. The horse riding was done by the horse owner, a body double,” revealed Mustan.

He continued, “When the song ends, when he turns and goes away from the camera, he is going down a slope, there is no horse there but Shah Rukh just acted as if he is riding a horse. No one can believe that he is not riding the horse. That’s how well he has performed.”

In the same interaction, another fan reminded Abbas-Mustan that Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan have both gotten their monikers, Khiladi and Baadshah, because of Abbas-Mustan films. The fan further suggested that perhaps the director duo should probably plan a Baazigar sequel which could have both Khiladi and Baadshah coming together. “Sequel ka zamana hai (It’s the time for sequels),” they said. Upon hearing their suggestion, Mustan immediately said, “Aapke paas kahani hai toh dijiye. Zaroor banayenge (If you have a story, please give. We’ll make).”
