Ranbir Kapoor has often expressed his fondness for his niece Samara Sahni, who is the daughter of his sister, Riddhima Kapoor Sahani and Bharat Sahni. The 13-year-old was recently spotted striking a pose alongside the Animal actor during Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan’s son, Jeh’s birthday party. Now, Samara has spoken about her famous mamu, as well as her parents. She said that she calls Ranbir ‘RK’ on his insistence.

“I heard he was a naughty kid when they (Ranbir and Riddhima) were babies,” Samara said, who was quickly interjected by her mother, Riddhima.  “But he used to study!” When Bharat pointed out that Ranbir being naughty in his childhood days doesn’t give Samara the right to be mischievous, she reacted,  “You did all these naughty things when you were a baby so I am fine doing these things. I can be as naughty as I can because you both (Riddhima and Ranbir) were naughty when you were babies.”

Riddhima, who is a jewellery designer, revealed that Samara enjoys listening to stories of Ranbir and his mischiefs from his childhood day. “At the dinner table, she insists I share what RK did when he was a baby. She kept asking, ‘Tell me all those naughty stories,’ she said, adding,  “Our generation was something else. We had so much fun. Ranbir and I used to jump into the naala (sewage) outside our grandfather’s house. We would befriend house helps and drivers’ kids and look forward to playing with them.”

Riddhima also spoke about how her mother and actor Neetu Kapoor brought discipline to Samara in the interview to Galatta India. “My mother is on my team. She knows what I go through with her.  She is very strict when he comes to Sam  (Samara). She says, ‘Meri beti akeli thodi hi discipline karegi? (How will my daughter alone be able to bring in discipline in her?) I have to help my child. My mother-in-law, on the contrary, is very kind,” she said.

In an earlier interview, Ranbir also spoke about his relationship with his niece Samara. “I have a niece called Samara who’s 11 now, and she is a little shy, she also lives in Delhi, but during her growing up years, we were quite close. Now she’s in that awkward age where boys are a bit… But I would like to believe I am close to children. I am the cool uncle but I don’t like to be called uncle. I tell them ‘Call me RK’ because I don’t give an uncle tag…there’s a little bit of distance so that people think I’m cool. RK has got a ring to it and also I don’t want people to think I’m old. Just call me RK,” reported Hindustan Times.

During his appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, Ranbir revealed how ahead of attending Jeh’s birthday bash, Samara asked him if there would be paps. “Usse pehle hum gaye the Kareena ke bete ke birthday ke liye to wo bhi aayi thi mere sath. To usne mujhe pehle hi bola tha ki RK, waha media hogi? To I said ha hogi. She said acha to me aise pose karungi aisa pose karungni, she loves it.
