Ruslaan actor Aayush Sharma and Salman Khan’s sister, Arpita Khan Sharma have been married for nearly a decade and together, the couple has seen many ups and downs, including that of tackling divorce rumours amid Aayush’s foray into Bollywood

In 2019, the couple found themselves at the center of unexpected divorce rumours that left Aayush in shock. In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, he recounted, “Nobody has been that interested in my life to float rumours about me around. But I remember a very small incident. I took my son out for dosa and when we were coming out, the paparazzi caught me and asked me if Arpita and I were filing for divorce.”

Despite the shock, Aayush and Arpita found humour in the situation, bursting into laughter at the rumour “I was just so surprised! I took my son out for a snack and ended up facing questions about our divorce. When I came back home, I asked Arpita if she was going to divorce me. And we had a good laugh over it,” Aayush shared, reflecting on the bizarre episode.

Over the years, Arpita has been a constant source of support for Aayush through his career ups and downs, offering both encouragement and constructive criticism. “Arpita is a very harsh critic. But she’s more honest than harsh. She’s somebody who watches films very objectively. She has a very different sensibility compared to the kind of films I make. She knows that I like making mass films but she’s into films based on true stories,” Aayush revealed.

He added that she appreciates good content. “She likes films that are shorter and emotionally driven. She has a very different take on cinema, which is somewhat of a grounding exercise for us. She’s a very critical person. While watching my films, she gets into the continuity. If there’s a continuity jerk, she’ll have a problem.”

Aayush also noted that Arpita isn’t afraid to voice her opinions and suggestions, even if it means requesting the removal of certain scenes from his films. “She gets into the colour combination of the clothes I’m wearing and questions why certain scenes look a certain way and why my character did what he did. If she doesn’t like something, she tells me to take that bit out,” he explained.

Sharing how he values her input and validation, Aayush stated, “When I watch the rushes of a film that I’ve acted in, I make my family and kids watch the sequences multiple times. And one good thing about Arpita is that she never watches my films with the notion that it has her husband in them. She looks at them as an audience who has bought a ticket and then shares her opinions on whether she liked me in the film or not.”

It was back in 2011 when Aayush and Arpita’s love story began at a party.  While Aayush was the one who initially expressed his feelings, Arpita took her time before reciprocating them. Fast forward to November 2014, the couple exchanged vows and began their journey together as husband and wife. Today, they are parents to son Ahil and daughter Ayat, with their tenth wedding anniversary just around the corner.
