Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi was honoured with the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian honour awarded for exceptional and distinguished service, on Thursday. President Droupadi Murmu presented him with the award at a ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi.

Chiranjeevi arrived for the function with his wife Surekha, son and actor Ram Charan, daughter Sushmitha and daughter-in-law, entrepreneur Upasana Kamineni Konidela. Now, a video capturing a heartwarming exchange between Upasana and Chiranjeevi, with a cameo appearance by Charan towards the end, has gone viral. She is seen capturing the moments as family prepares for the ceremony and Chiranjeevi poses for a photo shoot.

In the video that she shared on her Instagram stories, Upasana asks Chiranjeevi, “Mavayya (uncle), what is common between Klin Kaara (Upasana and Charan’s daughter) and me?” Puzzled and after some contemplation, Chiranjeevi responds, “Klin Kaara… she is an extension of you, that’s it.”

As Chiru indirectly accepted defeat, Upasana said, “No Mavayya, both our grandfathers are Padma Vibhushan (recipients),” eliciting cheerful laughter from Chiranjeevi. Upasana is the granddaughter of Pratap C Reddy, an entrepreneur and cardiologist who founded the Apollo Hospitals. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2010.

As the two were enjoying a delightful moment, Ram Charan, standing across the room, seemed to experience a strong sense of FOMO and eagerly joins in, asking, “What? What?” to hear the joke himself. As Chiranjeevi turns the camera towards him, Charan awkwardly waves before turning to his wife to hear her joke.

Having appeared in over 150 films in Telugu as well as Hindi, Tamil and Kannada, Chiranjeevi was bestowed the Padma Bhushan in 2006. He was last seen in director Meher Ramesh’s Bhola Shankar and is currently working on Mallidi Vassishta’s socio-fantasy film Vishwambhara.
