The ambience of your home is a reflection of your personality, and Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi ardently believes in this philosophy. In a recent interview with Urban Company, the actor offered a glimpse into his Goan farmhouse-style home in Mumbai, which he and his wife Priyanka Alva Oberoi designed to represent their lives.

The tour commenced with Vivek introducing his pet cow, Kamadhenu, emphasizing how her presence adds a rustic village charm to the household. He remarked, “This is more her house than mine. The aroma of a cowshed gives you a feel that within this city, you are living in your own little village.”

Adorned with antiques, wooden furniture, elegant chandeliers, prominent portraits of Goddess Lakshmi, and abundant indoor plants, Vivek’s home exudes a farmhouse vibe, precisely what the actor intended. He shared their vision of sustainability and rootedness, stating, “The idea was that this home should come from me and Priyanka, and what it represents is our life. When we bought this house, we wanted it to reflect Goa. Everything that you see outside, inside is the essence of a farmhouse.”

While touring the living room and bedroom, Vivek showcased their collection of antiques, expressing fondness for items with sentimental value. Pointing to the antique bed in their bedroom, he recounted its rich history, “This bed has been in Priyanka’s family for half-a-century and maybe even longer than that. So, I love it because my earliest memory as a 4-year-old is sleeping in a bed like this and feeling cozy and secure while listening to stories from my dadi.”

Emphasizing their desire to blend the outdoors with the indoors, Vivek highlighted the presence of tall, lush trees visible through the expansive windows surrounding the house. He concluded the tour in the backyard of his house. The actor shared that the backyard has exposed pipes and a tap but he doesn’t mind the little imperfections and have embraced them. He said, “We like this quirkiness and madness.”

Reflecting on the transition from the world of make-believe to the comfort of his home, Vivek shared, “I work in a world of make belief where everything is superficial but when I walk back from the world to my home, I am not the actor Vivek Oberoi, I am just me.”
