Bhojpuri actor Amrita Pandey was found dead at her apartment in Bihar’s Bhagalpur, as reported by NDTV. Police suspect that the 27-year-old actor died by suicide. The incident occurred on Saturday (April 27).

Although no suicide note has been recovered thus far, cops mentioned that she shared a cryptic WhatsApp status just before her death. “Do naav me savaar thi uski zindagi, humne apni naav duba ke uska safar aasaan kar diya (His/her life was sailing on two boats, we made the journey easy by sinking one),” read her status.

While the investigation is progressing, the actor’s family has stated that she was concerned about her career due to insufficient work opportunities. Her family also revealed to NDTV that she had been battling depression and was undergoing treatment for it.

Amrita resided in Mumbai with her husband Chandramani Jhangad, an animation engineer. The couple had reportedly travelled to Bhagalpur to attend her sister’s wedding on April 18. Despite Chandramani returning to Mumbai after the wedding, Amrita chose to stay back.

Following the wedding, according to Hindustan Times, she extended her best wishes to her sister and brother-in-law on social media. “Congratulations you both wish you a happy marriage life,” she wrote in her post.

City Superintendent of Police Shri Raj told NDTV that they are conducting a high-level investigation into the case and have formed a dedicated team for the purpose. Amrita worked alongside Bhojpuri star Khesari Lal Yadav in Deewanapan and gained recognition for her roles in Hindi movies, TV shows and web series, particularly Parishodh.
