Disney surprised everyone on Monday by dropping the highly anticipated teaser for the upcoming film Mufasa: The Lion King. This prequel to the 2019 hit musical film The Lion King has audiences eagerly waiting to see the story of young Mufasa and his brother Scar, and how their relationship turned sour. The movie is helmed by Barry Jenkins.
The teaser starts with a stunning backdrop, offering a peek into the vibrant lives of the animals, and then introduces Mufasa, the lion who altered the destiny of many. Fans believe, and it’s presumed, that the film will show Mufasa’s journey to becoming the king of the Pride lands and explore the complexities of his relationship with Scar. However, the promo itself doesn’t provide any hints about the plotlines.

The official synopsis of the film reads, “Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka—the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny—their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.”

Fans on the internet expressed excitement about the teaser of Mufasa: The Lion King. One of them wrote, “Disney definitely improved on the facial expressions on the animals! I’m excited!!!” Another commented, “I’ll admit this: they’re actually making the animals seem lively and animated this time round. Seems lessons have been learned.”
Aaron Pierre will be the voice of Mufasa, while Kelvin Harrison Jr. will be lending his voice to the villainous Scar. The film is all set to be released in theatres on December 20.
