Manoj Bajpayee has been acting in front of the camera for over two decades now and while the actor is celebrated for being one of the best actors of the country, he recently shared that a lot of people have preconceived notions about him, which includes them assuming that he is a “sharabi (alcoholic).” Manoj recently appeared on a podcast on the YouTube channel Bharti TV and said that one of his co-actors walked up to him and said that Manoj is known for having a shot of vodka before every take.

He recalled an incident from the set of Joram and said, “When I was shooting for Joram, one girl came up to me, this was her first film. She said ‘sir, I am really enjoying working with you’.” Manoj thanked her and as the conversation moved along, she said, “‘Sir, it is very well known about you that you take a shot before every take. I said ‘what shot?’ She said ‘people think it is a vodka shot’.” Manoj then expressed his shock and told her “What shot? I don’t even drink hard liquor.”

When the woman reminded Manoj that he drinks from a little bottle every few hours, Manoj revealed that it was the bottle for his homeopathic medicine. “I said ‘are you crazy? This is homeopathic medicine.’ People think I go on the set after having a vodka shot, yeh toh sharabi hai kebabi hai.” Manoj said that since he has homeopathic medicine, which requires him to take certain number of drops straight from the bottle, people made up their mind about him without actually asking him the question. He insisted, “I don’t drink hard liquor.”

Manoj has been promoting his latest film Silence 2 with Prachi Desai. The actor has previously opened up about his drunken episodes and shared that his during first meeting with Amitabh Bachchan after the screening of Satya, he was completely drunk.
