Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi’s brother-in-law Rakesh Tiwari passed away in a road accident in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, news agency PTI reported. Tripathi’s sister Sabita Tiwari, who was travelling with her husband Rakesh at the time of the incident, sustained injuries.

The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 4.30 pm at Nirsa Bazar on the Delhi-Kolkata National Highway-2 on Saturday when the couple’s car crashed into the road divider. A chilling CCTV video capturing the accident has since gone viral.

According to the video, the incident happened when the car appeared to lose control. The mishap occurred as Rajesh, who was behind the wheel, attempted to avoid an auto at Nirsa Chowk and subsequently lost control of the vehicle, causing it to climb onto a three-foot-high divider, as reported by news agency ANI. The duo was travelling from Gopalganj district of Bihar to West Bengal when the tragic incident occurred.

Following the accident, the ANI report further stated, the two were rushed to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) in Dhanbad. However, the actor’s brother-in-law was declared dead upon arrival. His sister, who suffered a leg fracture, is now out of danger.

It may be mentioned here that this is the second death to happen in Tripathi’s family in the past year. Tripathi’s father Pandit Banaras Tiwari had passed away on August 21, 2023. He was 99 and died due to age-related issues.

Tripathi was last seen in the mystery thriller Netflix film Murder Mubarak. He is currently gearing up for the completion of the filming of the comedy horror film Stree 2.
