Superstar Shah Rukh Khan had a blockbuster 2023 with three global hits, but the actor isn’t slowing down. After lot of back and forth, Shah Rukh has locked his next film– The King. The actioner will mark the big screen debut of his daughter Suhana Khan.

Shah Rukh was previosuly rumored to be attached with The King in an extended cameo, with Suhana taking more of the center stage. But as things stand today, the script was worked around to have SRK in the lead role, sources said.

The King will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh, known for his thrillers like Vidya Balan headlined Kahaani, Badla and the Netflix hit with Kareena Kapoor, Jaane Jaan. The action sequences will be done by Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan director Siddharth Anand, who is tasked to oversee and assemble the best international team to execute “action of a global scale”, sources added.

While a Bollywood Hungama report quoted Rs 200 crore as the budget of The King, the actioner is likely to fall in the same bracket–or more– of budget given the vision the team has for the film, the source said. The King will feature Shah Rukh Khan as a mentor to Suhana’s character and is reportedly going to be in the same zone as the 1994 acclaimed actioner Leon.
