Anyone but her.
Top Hollywood producer Carol Baum, who is behind films like “Father of the Bride” and its sequel, claimed Hollywood “it” girl Sydney Sweeney “isn’t pretty” and “can’t act” during a recent discussion after a screening of her 1988 film “Dead Ringers,” according to the Daily Mail.
“I don’t get Sydney Sweeney,” Baum, who executive produced her first movie in 1984, reportedly said at the Jacob Burns Center in Pleasantville, NY, last week.
Baum said she came to the realization after she watched Sweeney’s latest film, “Anyone But You,” on an airplane. “I wanted to know who she is and why everybody’s talking about her,” she explained.
She also described the romcom as “unwatchable.”
Baum further revealed her students at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts couldn’t give a satisfactory reason why the 26-year-old star is so sought after, either.
“I said to my class, ‘Explain this girl to me. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?'” she recalled. “Nobody had an answer.”
Despite her disinterest in Sweeney, Baum conceded that she’s not sure if she would turn down the opportunity to produce a movie with her in it, if her presence meant the project would get the go-ahead.

“We all want to get the movie made and who walks away from a green light? Nobody I know,” she noted. “Your job is to get the movie made.”
Sweeney’s rep did not immediately respond to ’s request for comment.
Sweeney skyrocketed to fame with the success of HBO’s “Euphoria,” in which she plays the vulnerable teenager Cassie Howard. The role earned her an Emmy nomination in 2022.
She also landed an Emmy nomination for her role as Olivia Mossbacher in “The White Lotus.”
“Anyone But You,” which was just one of three major films to star Sweeney between December 2023 and March, had mixed reviews.
Despite the lukewarm critiques, it ended up ruling the box office, raking in more than $200 million worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing R-rated romantic comedy since 2016’s “Bridget Jones’s Baby,” according to Variety.
The film made waves months before its arrival as rumors of an affair between Sweeney and her co-star Glen Powell ignited.

However, the “The Handmaid’s Tale” actress addressed the gossip when she hosted “Saturday Night Live” in March.
“That’s obviously not true,” she asserted.
“Me and my fiancé [Jonathan Davino] produced the movie together and he was there the entire shoot.”
