When you think of 80s Tamil cinema, a few names quickly crop up in the mind. It would include that period’s biggest sensation Khushbu, Suhasini, who was ruling the roost not just in Tamil but also in Telugu, Lissy, the heroine of Kamal Haasan’s original Vikram, Radha and Ambika sisters, and of course, the quintessential on-screen singer Mohan aka Mike Mohan. These yesteryear stars and a few more, who are the living embodiments of the 80s era, came together to celebrate the Tamil New Year in the city.

“This is US. Thamizh puththaandu with our 80’s gang. Friends for life,” wrote Suhasini while sharing the picture from the meet. Khushbu was quick to comment, “Forever.”

Actor Rahman, who was seen in Ponniyin Selvan as Madhuranthakan, was also in attendance. Though Rahman became a bankable star in the mid and later part of the 90s, he made his debut with Nilave Malare (1986), directed by Vijay’s father SA Chandrasekar. Poornima Bhagyaraj, another leading heroine from the era, also graced the event.

However, the most happening person from the picture is actor Mohan, who is making a comeback to acting with Tamil star Vijay in his upcoming film The Greatest of All Time. Mohan and Prashanth are some of the fascinating casting choices in the film, as both the actors, who have seen better days, are coming back to the silver screen after years.

This is not the first time Suhasini has shared pictures with her long-time friends. She keeps surprising her followers with old pictures from the period when she was one of the most sought-after actors. A few weeks ago, Suhasini shared a picture of herself, Y Vijaya, and Rajitha recreating their pose from one of their old films.
