During an Instagram Live, Munawar Faruqui spoke about the incident and shared, “Jo do dukaandar the, unke beech mein fight chal gayi thi. Toh tumhara bhai thoda bhadak gaya tha unn chacha log ko dekh ke. Apne ko kaun maarega. Main thik hoon. Mereko kisine anda vagaira nahi maara. Woh chacha the unko lag gaya aur ek officer wahan the unko bhi ek anda lag gaya. Woh dukaandaron ke beech mein bahut jealousy hoti hai. Competitors jalte hai ek dusre se. Agar apne se koi jalte hai toh woh apne competitors hai hi nahi. (There was a fight between two shopkeepers and seeing them fight, I lost my cool too. Who would beat someone of their own? I am fine, no egg was thrown at me. One of the uncles and a police officer got hit by the egg. There is a lot of jealousy between these shopkeepers, but if someone is jealous of his own kind then they are not competitors.)”

For those who don’t know, it was reported by some publications that despite agreeing to visit a restaurant, Munawar went to another eatery leading the restaurant owner to lose his cool. The rivalry between the two restaurant owners has existed since long and when Munawar visited the rival eatery, it led to a fight between the owners who first started exchanging cuss words and later the tension escalated with eggs being thrown at each other. Unfortunately, Munawar got stuck in between the fight.

As per a report in Hindustan Times, the fight occurred at 1:30 am between the owners of Noorani Milk Center and Mashallah Cuisine. Both the restaurants are located opposite each other, and it was the owner of Mashallah Cuisine who initiated the fight. Seven people have been booked over this incident.
