After Ila Arun expressed her displeasure over the new version of “Choli Ke Peeche”, which was made for the Kareena Kapoor, Tabu and Kriti Sanon-starrer Crew, Alka Yagnik has also shared her two cents on the song. The original song was sung by Ila and Alka for the Subhash Ghai film Khalnayak and decades later, the number is still loved by fans. In a recent interview, Alka said that since the new song came out, people have been asking for her take on it.

In a chat with Bollywood Bubble, Alka said that song has been widely played for decades and is still played with just as much love. In fact, she still sings it in her concerts because the audience loves it just as much. “The song is the same, it is very popular. It was widely played before and it’s still widely played. I said it’s my song, it’s still in my voice… the remix, baj raha hai bajne do, acha hi hai (it’s playing, let them play, it’s good). It’s a hit song. They have added some rap to it. Let it be, such is the trend. There is not even one concert where I don’t sing that song. I always have to sing it. The audience always wants that song,” she said.

Recalling the time when she recorded the song, Alka said that when she got her lines, she did not think much about them but when Ila opened the song with ‘Choli ke peeche kya hai?’, she knew that it was a “naughty song”. “We were laughing so much when we were recording the song. It was so much fun. It was a live recording, we recorded it together,” she recalled in the same conversation.

Alka Yagnik said that even though the song was “naughty and mischievous,” she knew it would not be presented in a “vulgar manner”. “Because Subhash (Ghai) ji was handling the song, Laxmikant Pyarelal gave the music, Anand Bakshi wrote the lyrics, Madhuri was on the screen. The entire lot was very responsible. So I knew that aesthetically they will handle it well. Which was a fact, they handled it very cutely. I knew this song will make big news,” she said.

Earlier, Ila Arun opened up about the remix in a chat with India Today where she said that the music company Tips called her to seek her blessing just a few minutes before the song’s launch and did not inform her in time. She said, “They called me five minutes before the launch of the song and asked my blessing. What else I could do, except give them my blessings? I was dumbfounded but couldn’t ask them why have you done this?”
