Salman Khan‘s brother-in-law and actor Aayush Sharma is gearing up for the release of his upcoming actioner Ruslaan. The actor launched the film’s trailer in Mumbai on Friday along with other cast members – Telugu star Jagapathi Babu, Vidya Malavade and debutante actress Sushrii Mishraa.

At the trailer launch event, Aayush opened up about doing a film outside of Salman Khan Films banner for the first time since he made his acting debut in 2018 with Loveyatri. Calling his journey as an actor ‘painfully slow’, Aayush said, “I have been in this industry for five years. I have always felt that my journey has been painfully slow. But I also enjoy this journey a lot because I am involved in every film of mine very passionately. After Loveyatri, when I came to know that I have to do Antim, it took me three years to prepare. Around the same time, sir (director Karan Butani) and I were discussing Ruslaan, and for me, it was a great opportunity.”

“I think when you get to work outside of your family, you get to learn a lot of new things. Ruslaan is the result of everything I have learnt,” he added.

Aayush Sharma, after making his debut with Loveyatri, was seen in Antim along with Salman Khan. The movie was directed by critically acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar. Aayush opened up about whether he was spoiled by Salman Khan Films (SKF), which belongs to brother-in-law Salman Khan.

“If one thinks I was spoiled (by SKF), Karan sir and Radhamohan sir (film’s producer) fixed me. When they made me stand bare-chested in minus 6 degrees celsius weather in Azerbaijan, the spoiled brat in me vanished (laughs). But honestly, it was neither my intention nor my family’s intention that I’ll only do films with the family. I am an actor first, I am hungry. I would want to do as many good films as I can. It doesn’t matter who is producing the film, I would love to work. My journey has just begun and I don’t think I have the liberty to stay in a comfort zone.”

Aayush also confessed that now since he is finally on his own, working for a film backed by a different banner, he has understood the kind of risk that is now attached to him.

He shared, “I have realised one thing with Ruslaan that when you step out of your comfort zone, when you come out of your protective world, there is a lot of risk but with it comes a lot of experience as well. I am ready to go out there. I was ready from Loveyatri, but how my career and films panned out, it took time, but that I am here. I am grateful that Radhamohan sir chose me for this film and I hope there are more films outside SKF and with them as well.”

Ruslaan, directed by Karan Butani, is scheduled to release in theatres on April 26.
