Actor Atul Srivastava, who has appeared in films like Munna Bhai MBBS, Bunty Aur Babli, Bharat and Toilet Ek Prem Katha, recently opened up about his experience of working with Yash Raj Films and recalled the time when he shot with director Shaad Ali for Bunty Aur Babli in Kanpur. Atul shared that the production house paid him more money than promised because they were so impressed with his performance and believed that he deserved more money.

Atul appeared in the film in a small role in the film in the scenes when the two lead characters are planning heists across many cities in north India. In a chat with Rajshri Unplugged, Atul said that he joined the film’s crew in Kanpur during the shoot. “I was asked to stay in the same hotel where all the other big stars were staying. I was given the same amount of respect. One guy from the production said that Shaad sir has specifically asked that you can order whatever you want, that made me feel nice. There was no discrimination and because of that, the actor starts feeling more confident,” he shared.

Atul shared that there was someone in the team who disrespected him but the team from YRF scolded them. “After the first day of the shoot, there was someone from the costume department or somewhere who misbehaved a bit. Their boss scolded them so that made me feel more comfortable. They were told that just because someone is a lesser known actor, that does not mean that you don’t respect them,” he shared.

Atul then shared that YRF paid him more than the agreed amount because they liked his work. “After we were done with the shoot, Shaad really liked the scene. When I went to collect my cheque, it was a little more than what had been decided. So I asked them and reminded them that I was supposed to get less money. They said, ‘no, sir, we have gotten a call’. They said ‘you deserve this.’ So I was very happy with that. What more does an actor want?”

Bunty Aur Babli starred Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan in lead roles.
