After a hiatus lasting over a year, actor Prithviraj Sukumaran is poised to make a comeback to the Malayalam film industry with Blessy’s Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life). This survival drama, adapted from a novel of the same name, is one of the most anticipated projects of his career and is scheduled to hit screens on March 28.

For Prithviraj, last seen in Prashanth Neel’s Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, Aadujeevitham marks just the beginning of a series of significant projects across various languages. Following The Goat Life, he is set to return to the silver screen with Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, further solidifying his position as a prominent figure in India’s entertainment industry.

Nevertheless, the demand for the actor is not a recent phenomenon and he has been in the spotlight for the past several years, winning the hearts of many, especially industry insiders including legends. Recently, Prithviraj opened up about turning down offers from Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi not once, but twice. “I was very worried that Chiranjeevi sir will think I am lying,” Prithviraj mentioned while addressing the Telugu media recently.

Recalling that the megastar had, in 2017, gotten in touch with him through Suhasini Maniratnam to play a role in Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy (2019), Prithviraj said, “I was very flattered. The fact that he thought about me for a big role was like a big certificate for me. But at that time I apologised and told him that I had just started shooting for this project (Aadujeevitham) for which I had been waiting for 10 years and had to grow a beard and lose weight etc. He was fine with it.”

“A few years later, I became a director and my debut film Lucifer became a hit in Kerala. Chiranjeevi sir bought the rights to that film. That was also the time when Sye Raa was getting ready for release. For the movie’s Kerala event, when he came to the state, I was invited as the chief guest. At that time, his team asked me why not consider directing Lucifer’s Telugu version. Again I told him, ‘I would have loved to sir. But there’s this big film I am doing for which I have to grow a beard and lose weight etc.’ And he was like, ‘Hey! A few years ago too you said the same story.’ I had forgotten that I already told him the same excuse. But I hope his team conveyed to him that it’s true,” the actor said, laughing.

“Chiranjeevi sir is such a sweet person. He messages me once in a while and keeps in touch; so does Ram (Charan). He texted me the day GodFather (Lucifer’s Telugu remake) was released. I hope I will be able to work with him someday,” he added.
