Sophie Turner’s legal team has requested a judge to “reactivate”  her divorce case with ex-husband Joe Jonas citing the end of an abatement period. Joe’s representatives in response to the petition, described the filing as a “legal formality,” stating that the couple continues to work towards an amicable resolution, in a statement.

According to court documents, “the abatement has come to an end and this case is to be re-activated”. People magazine reported the Game of Thrones actress and her lawyers filed paperwork in Miami-Dade County, Florida.

The former couple, who tied the knot in Las Vegas in 2019, called it quits in September 2023 after four years of being married to each other. They had a temporary custody agreement for their two daughters, Willa and Delphine. This agreement included mediation and allowed the children to travel between the United States and the United Kingdom. In a joint statement, Sophie and Joe expressed their commitment to being “great co-parents.”

Following their divorce, the 28-year-old had accused Joe of withholding their children’s passports and sued him for “wrongful retention”. However, in January, she dropped these claims after a US judge approved the dismissal of the filing. This decision came after a UK  judge approved a consent plan agreed upon by both parties.

The ongoing divorce proceedings between Sophie and Joe continue to draw attention, highlighting the complexities that can arise when navigating high-profile separations.

According to the petition for dissolution of marriage, the couple’s marriage was “irretrievably broken.” and “it is in the best interests of the minor children that the parties have shared parental responsibility.” Following this, the couple issued a joint statement on their Instagram handles announcing their separation. “After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decidedly to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children (sic),” read the post.
