Kiwi cyclist Aaron Gate has continued his charge towards the Paris Olympics with a gold medal alongside Campbell Stewart in the men's madison on the final day of the UCI Nations Cup competition in Hong Kong.
Less than 24 hours after his triumph in the omnium, Gate combined with Stewart to dominate the two-rider event, scoring points in 17 of the 20 sprints to secure the top of the podium yet again.
They duo finished on 45 points ahead of Spain (35) and Japan.
The event is the second of three Nations Cup competitions offering ranking points towards qualification for the UCI Track World Championships and the upcoming Olympics.
Meanwhile, Kiwi Bryony Botha finished seventh in the women's four-discipline omnium competition.
Botha came in 21st in the scratch race, won the tempo, then finished second in the elimination and 10th in the points race.
Earlier, Sam Dakin qualified in 9.983s in the men's sprint, but was eliminated in the first round, and Shaane Fulton and Rebecca Petch lost out in the repechage in the women's keirin.
