Oscar Awards 2024 Live Streaming: Time to be seated with popcorn, a fully charged phone and opinions, because the Oscars are back. The 96th Academy Awards is set to take place with all the glitz and glamour of the international movie industry stalwarts assembling at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood for one of the biggest awards nights of the year. The gala event will take place in Los Angeles on March 11 (IST).

Oscars 2024: When and where to watch

The Oscars will begin at 4 am on Monday, March 11. The event will start with the grand red-carpet ceremony which would then lead to the awards. This year, the show will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, who also hosted the ceremony last year. This would make his fourth time being an emcee at the Oscars. In India, Star Movies and Disney+ Hotstar will be streaming the ceremony live from 4 am. Star Movies will also have a repeat telecast at 8:30 pm IST.

The 2024 Oscars come after a historic last year for India at the Academy Awards, where RRR’s “Naatu Naatu” won the award for Best Music (Original Song) and the Guneet Monga-backed documentary, The Elephant Whisperers, bagged an award under the category Documentary Short Film.

This time, the Canadian documentary To Kill a Tiger, directed by India-born Canadian filmmaker Nisha Pahuja will have Indian fans keenly watching the Documentary Feature Film category, where it is nominated.

The documentary follows the lives of a Jharkhand family, campaigning for justice after their teenage daughter was brutally raped. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Dev Patel and Mindy Kaling serve as executive producers on the film, which will release on Netflix.

Christopher Nolan’s global blockbuster Oppenheimer is dominating the nominations, earning an impressive 13 nods, with many betting that the acclaimed filmmaker might finally win his best director Academy Award. 

Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things has bagged 11 nominations, followed by Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon which has been nominated in 10 categories. The Best Picture category includes films like Oppenheimer, American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, Barbie, The Holdovers, Maestro, Past Lives, Killers of the Flower Moon and The Zone of Interest.

Al Pacino, Michelle Pfeiffer, Zendaya, Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Lange, Nicolas Cage, Mahershala Ali, Sam Rockwell and Luptia Nyong’o, Brendan Fraser, Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis among others will be presenting the awards.
