Krushna Abhishek is now popular for his comic acts and will soon be seen with Kapil Sharma in his upcoming Netflix show The Great Indian Kapil Show. But, in a recent interview, Krushna shared why he entered the comedy space in the first place. Krushna first gained popularity because of his comic acts with Sudesh Lehri in Sony TV’s Comedy Circus and the comedian admitted that he “had never done any comedy on stage before this”.

In a chat on Bharti TV, Krushna said that he had no experience of comedy or theatre and had just become popular in the television space because of his Nach Baliye stint with wife Kashmera Shah. Krushna revealed that money was a big motivating factor in taking up Comedy Circus back in 2007. He said, “I signed Comedy Circus only for money. I was very happy with it. They were giving me Rs 1.5 lakh per episode.” Krushna added that they were shooting two episodes in a day, which meant that he was getting Rs 3 lakh in a day.

Krushna Abhishek said that the makers of the show were especially interested in him because he was Govinda’s nephew. “They gave me a lot of respect because I was Govinda’s nephew. I was so in awe of the fact that I would be making Rs 3 lakh per day,” he said. Sudesh and Krushna won 4 seasons of the show and are still remembered for some of their comic acts on the show.

Krushna recalled that at this time, he was primarily working in Bhojpuri films where he was getting Rs 3 lakh per film and had to shoot for 30 days to make that money. “At that time, I was doing Bhojpuri films, and I would get paid Rs 3 lakh per film. I would shoot for 30 days, day and night, and then make that much money,” he recalled.

Krushna Abhishek has since appeared in many comedy shows on television and was last seen as Sapna Didi on Kapil’s show on Sony TV.
