The Tamil Nadu Government has unveiled the State Film Awards for the year 2015, bringing to light brilliant cinematic achievements and talents of that year. Scheduled for March 6, 2024, at the TN Rajarathinam Kalai Arangam, the award ceremony will be graced by the Minister for Information and Publicity, MP Saminathan.

Thani Oruvan emerged victorious as it secured the prestigious First Prize under the Best Film category. Directed by Mohan Raja, the movie has Jayam Ravi, Arvind Swami, and Nayanthara in the lead roles.

Madhavan and Jyotika clinched the titles of Best Actor and Best Actress for their remarkable performances in Irudhi Suttru and 36 Vayathinile, respectively. Aravind Swamy’s portrayal in Thani Oruvan earned him the coveted Best Villain award, while Sudha Kongara’s directorial brilliance in Irudhi Suttru was duly recognized with the Best Director Award.

The awards span various categories, acknowledging the contributions of actors, actresses, technicians, and artistes who have enriched Tamil cinema over the years. Here’s the list of all the winners:

The Tamil Nadu State Film Awards were started back in 1967, and it was stopped in 2008. After a hiatus, the awards were reinstated in 2017, recognizing films released between 2009 and 2014. So, this year the awards for films released in 2015-2016 are given.
